ORIGIN

The Detroit Tigers have had a long history in baseball. First as a member of the minor league dating all the way back to 1894 but in 1901, they became a major player in the Major Basbell League. Coming in as a professional team, the Detroit Tigers is known as the oldest American team playing under their original name. 1968 – It won’t be another 23 years before the Detroit Tigers win another championship, but their timely victory over the St. Louis Cardinals in 1968 ended what was unofficially coined “the long drought.” But this year, the team rose from the lower ranks of the American league and beat out the Cardinals in a 4-0 win.

1984 – Another win came saving the team from another significnt drought, this time it was 16 years. But in 1984, the Tigers proved that the expansion in the last decade has been worth it. That year, the Detroit Tigers also had MVP Alan Trammel, who led the match against the San Diego Padres.
